- The First Church of Christ Congregational in Clinton will be singing 2 songs, as well as the Madison Ward Choir.
-The event will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 275 Warpas Rd. Madison, CT 06443. It will be held in the evening, at 7pm.
-Refreshments will be offered following the performance—apple pie (provided by Purple Artichokes Catering, Stop and Shop Grocery Store, Bishop's Orchards, and Lyman Orchards ) and water.
-Pews from the chapel will need to be removed and staging set-up, as well as microphones and other sound equipment set-up; this will involve both the scouts and members of the Elders Quorum. They will also be asked to breakdown the stage.
-The High Priests and Scouts will be asked to clean-up the chairs, tables, and all other things necessary for church to occur the next day.
-Scouts from several local troops will be asked to collect and organize the food on the night of the concert, as well as load the Soup Kitchen truck up with it.
-Scouts will also be asked to do a flag ceremony at the beginning of the concert.
-Young Women and Scouts will be asked to set up chairs in the gym for the event.
-The Primary will sing one song. (I Love my Land, America)
-There will be a ward choir of about 20 people, and Katy Salzo will be in charge of Music for the Madison Ward choir. Also, Denise Fogleman will be the organist.
-There will be a suggested donation of about 20 non-perishable cans or items of food per family, (or 5 per person) which will be donated to the Shoreline Soup Kitchens, which is a local, non-profit, charitable organization which provides food for the needy.
-Also, there will be a registrar of voters present, who can help people register to vote in their respective towns, if they have not already done so, in preparation for the upcoming 2008 Presidential Elections in November.
-By inviting other churches, I hope to bring the community together, increase patriotism, and create a non-denominational, relaxing, patriotic concert for all to enjoy.
-This event will be open to the public. This will supplement Memorial Day celebrations.
-An event news release will be put in each of the local newspapers as the events draws nearer. Also, sandwich boards will be posted in the surrounding areas, at town circles/ greens.
-This concert will involve several rehearsals as well, by each of the participating groups throughout the month of April and May.
-The Madison Ward choir will be rehearsing for 1 hour after church every Sunday beginning after Easter.
-Also, I plan on inviting associates with musical talents to perform a solo, or in a small group.
